Going Apes over Banana Splits and Monkeys Birthday Party

by The Pink Peach

If you search the internet for Gorilla themed parties for little girls, you won't find any.  I had a mother who was at her wits end for something that looked cute for her two year old who loved Gorillas.  She called and mentioned the idea and doing banana splits.  I went apes over the theme!!!  These adorable party printables are what The Pink Peach custom designed  with monkey faces, banana splits, and the child's name and age.  I loved the idea of making it look young and girly in a light pink and yellow theme.   She asked if I could darken the monkeys just a bit so they looked like gorillas.

Immediately, I fell in love with the idea of monkeys and bananas, especially the part of offering a banana splits bar at the party.

The table featured cupcakes, water, and a variety of toppings for their banana splits.   Each child made their own.

Probably one of the most brilliant things I have ever seen was scooping the ice cream before the party and having them ready to serve.  The client had the scoops waiting in the freezer and ready to pull out when it was time to make the banana splits.

Each child chose their flavor and they were off to make their sundae.

A tree of chocolate lollipops monkeys were at the door as favors when the guests left.  Along with a sign that said "Keep Calm and Go Bananas"
Gorilla masks were printed and made as a favor activity along with sheets to color of Gorillas.

HERE'S THE SCOOP!

For great looking parties keep your decorations to only two primary colors.  Apply this rule and you will unify your look and make a theme more noticeable.  When serving food at a birthday party you don't have to offer an entire buffet for a great party!  Notice, this party only served water.  There were two main foods served, cupcakes and banana splits.  If you don't have the party at lunch or dinner time you can serve just a few items.

check out the Picaboo.com book made for this party on my Pinterest board under My Photo Books

Below is the cover to Kallan's book and the first page of the book.  To view the entire book click on the link above "My Photo Books"

This book is extra special!  I custom designed the cover showing little Kallan on top of the gorilla's back.

Throughout the design of the book I used Picaboo.com backgrounds along with the same backgrounds

I used in the the party printables I designed.

This is the only book I have ever created that reads like a books as the birthday girl is talking to you.

Her mother tells me she read it all year long and learned to read with it.

Please feel free to share with your friends!
